Grandpa Guru

The story of Bosnian musician Srdjan Gino Jevdjevic or “Gino Banana “ as he approaches his 60th birthday. Starts with his early life and career in Sarajevo, both before and after the Balkan wars of the 1990’s. He participates in the famous Sarajevo staging of the musical “HAIR” during the siege of Sarajevo.

He ends up in Seattle – one of the few people to escape the siege – and becomes a fixture of the super-charged Seattle music scene of the 1990’s. The Seattle Group Theatre engages Gino as Artist-in-Residence and he forms the band “Kultur Shock”, a punk-folk band which has a significant impact on that Seattle rock scene. Along the way he gets married and becomes friends with Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) and Krste Novoselic (Nirvana).
