The Uncle

A darkly humorous and confronting film set in the former Yugoslavia of the 1980’s – or is it? An uncle arrives, supposedly every Christmas, from “outside” to visit his family. The family “love” their uncle and yet they seem decidedly fearful of his power and his wrath. An absurdist allegory, this film builds tension until the final moments when everything erupts in murder and disintegration.
